The Goldbach is a 1.7 km long right tributary of the Bavarian Schwarzach in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .
Surname
Gold was found on the Reichenstein massif in the 16th century. The name "Goldbach" reminds of this, as does the name of the source of the Bavarian Schwarzach "Goldbrunnen". The Goldbach flows past this source at a distance of only about 90 m.
course
The Goldbach rises at a height of 778 m on the steep southeast slope of the 898 m high vineyard rock north of Waldhäuser . It first flows 200 m to the southeast and then swings to the south. Now it flows south parallel to the Bavarian Schwarzach , which rises here on the German-Czech border in the Goldbrunnen. It is only separated from the Bavarian Schwarzach by a 50 to 100 m narrow rock ridge.
After about 500 m the Goldbach turns more to the south-west and crosses under the road that runs through Waldhäuser.
On the west side of the elongated settlement Waldhäuser in north-south direction there is a deep valley cut. In this valley flows an unnamed, about 1 km long brook, which rises 818 m above sea level on the Eibenziegenberg. This brook crosses under the road on the northwestern outskirts of Waldhäuser and is taken up by the Goldbach on the southwestern outskirts of Waldhäuser.
The Goldbach now turns to the southeast, crosses under the road that connects Waldhäuser with Schwarzach and flows 420 m southeast of Waldhäuser into the Bavarian Schwarzach, which flows north-south along the German-Czech border.
Tributaries
About 500 m before its mouth, the Goldbach takes on an approximately 1 km long nameless stream from the right, which comes down from the Eibenziegenberg.
