biography
Goldie Ens grew up in Kapfenberg. She learned piano and later guitar and put together her first band at the age of twelve. In 1972 she took part in Show Chance as "Goldie" (a bow to Goldie Hawn ) , where she finished in fifth place, and shortly thereafter she received a recording contract with CBS . Lance Lumsden, who was her manager from then on, gave her the surname "Ens".
In 1973 she released her first single "Roter Vogel" and a year later her breakthrough came with the single "Goodbye Joe" from the LP "Night Express 10.30". In 1976 she reached number 18 in the Austrian charts with “Disco Baby (Casanova)” and although this was her only chart placement and thus her greatest commercial success, she is better known as a singer today because of her first hit “Goodbye Joe”.
In 1979 she left the pop business and went to America for a while. In the early 1980s she started a second career with the Supraphon label in Czechoslovakia , on which she released three LPs. She even received a gold record for "This Is My Life" (1983) .
Today she runs the residential salon P. in Vienna and is married to the lawyer Karl Newole. She also appears as a furnishing consultant in the ORF broadcasts in spring, summer, autumn and winter .
