Gonzalo Choy , full name Gonzalo Gabriel Choy González , (born October 11, 1981 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.88 meter tall midfielder Choy began his professional career in 2000 in the ranks of Club Atlético Cerro . From 2001 to 2004 he played for the first time for the Argentine club Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and completed 95 league games (17 goals). In 2005 he joined Olimpo de Bahía Blanca (16 games, one goal). During the year he moved to Quilmes AC (33 games, eight goals). From there he moved to the Argentinos Juniors in 2006 , for which he was active until 2007 and scored six goals in 28 missions. That year, his further career path led to Mexico to Monarcas Morelia . He scored six goals this season in the Primera División with the Mexicans in the 2007/08 season. In 2008 he joined Monarca's league rivals CF Monterrey and played seven top division games for the club from the state of Nuevo León in the 2008/09 season. He didn't score a goal. In December 2008, Monterrey loaned him to Rosario Central for a year . The loan agreement included two purchase option dates in June and December 2009. In the 2008/09 season he was with the Argentines five times, in the 2009/10 season eight times in the Primera División . He didn't score a goal. At the end of December 2009, his move for the upcoming season to CA Tigre , trained by Ricardo Caruso Lombardi , was announced. In the 2009/10 season he completed nine first division matches (no goal) for the club from Victoria . This was followed in July 2010 by an initially limited loan of one year at Arsenal de Sarandí . There he was used 21 times in the Primera División and scored once in the opposing goal. In early July 2011 he continued his career at Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata. There he ran 22 times (five goals) in the Primera B Nacional and once (no goal) in the Copa Argentina . At the end of July 2013 he moved to Club Almagro , for which he has so far (as of January 3, 2016) completed eleven league games (no goal) in the Primera B Metropolitana . At the end of January 2014, he signed a contract with Club Atlético 9 de Julio, coached by Mariano Balanho . He has been in the ranks of the Argentine club Agustín Alvarez since at least December 2014 .
