The Gonzo Publisher (proper spelling: Gonzo publisher) is a German publishing house , which exists since the year of 2007.

The Publisher

The Gonzo Verlag was founded in 2007 by the then 25-year-old student Miriam Spies. The publisher's name is based on the American writer and journalist Hunter S. Thompson . The first book was a collection of autobiographical short stories by Berlin filmmaker and hash rebel Michael Geißler.

Today the focus of the publishing house is on literary rock'n'roll, beat lyric, literature of cross-border commuters and experimental mixed forms. In 2010, for example, the audio CD status changed by the formation Kommando Elektrolyrik was released , which combines critical lyric texts with driving beats. In 2012 God Smoked - a mindtrip with Howard Marks , a music documentary with interviews, music clips and images from God Smoked Production Mannheim, was released. Also in 2012, the graphic novel Der Katzenkönig was published as a joint work by the author Stefan Gaffory and the illustrator Daniel Prohart . Apart from that, the publishing house publishes art catalogs from Mainz artists.

In 2012, Gonzo Verlag and Insichtbar Verlag published the anthology Fickt Euch Alle raus, which contained short stories by the authors of both publishers and which was sold out within a very short time.

From 2010 to 2012 the publishing house operated the gONZo loves you shop in Mainz's Bleichenviertel , a small bookstore that regularly hosted events.

In addition, the publisher runs the Internet reading series The Anhalter durch gONZoversum , in which the publisher's authors introduce themselves in the form of a pre-recorded video or live stream and take the readers with them to regular bars and hotel rooms, to traffic islands or sofas, to desks and other places. This is followed by a discussion as part of an internet conference.

Authors (selection)

Most of the publisher's authors have a subcultural background, which is also reflected in their works, including:
