action

Joe Bell is the epitome of manhood, and as a husband and father, he's used to yelling for what he wants. Jadin, his handsome teenage son, is gay and mercilessly bullied in high school.

Instead of losing himself in his grief after his suicide, Joe travels across the United States to talk to students and anyone else who will listen to him when he talks about the consequences of bullying.

Biographical

The story told in the film goes back to real events. After his son Jadin's suicide, Joe Bell decided to wander across the United States raising awareness of bullying and its possible effects. He was also involved in founding Faces for Change, a nonprofit anti-bullying foundation that honors the special dedication of people in school institutions who advocate diversity and the advancement of tolerance, and spoke to students in the United States High schools on the subject.

After it became known that his then 15-year-old son, who was a member of the cheerleading team at La Grande High School, was gay, he was bullied in direct contact with other young people as well as on the Internet. He then wanted to take his own life on January 19, 2013, but did not die immediately when he tried to hang himself and was artificially kept alive in the hospital for two weeks. The subject of bullying was increasingly taken up in the US media after his death.
