As Goppaschrofen (also: Goppaschrofa or Brandenkopf , 1781  . A. m above sea ) is a mountain in the Rätikon the so-called Part Galina group (Nebengrat) indicates that in the municipality of Frastanz is located.

location

The Goppaschrofen is a striking elevation of a tributary ridge of the Galina Group (also: Galingrat) in the Rätikon. The foothills of the Galina group stretch to the market town of Frastanz (one of the last elevations is the Stutzberg ).

The vegetation below consists of dense grass and some perennials and firs / Spirken etc. Below the Goppaschrofen and on the west side of the Galina Group ridge is the European protected area Spirkenwälder Samina Valley .

Adjacent peaks and notches or Alps

Seen in a north-easterly direction, about 850 meters as the crow flies, is the Spitztälispitz ( 1730  m above sea level ) and in a south-easterly direction, 1250 meters as the crow flies, the Hohen Köpf ( 2040  m above sea level (with summit cross) and 2066  m above sea level ) . ). The Haarkopf ( 1638  m above sea level ) is about 850 meters southwest, the dominant Galinakopf ( 2198  m above sea level ) about 2700 meters south. To the east under the Spitztälispitz, about 1500 m as the crow flies from Goppaschrofen, lies the Sattelalpe ( 1383  m above sea level ).

hike

The Goppaschrofen can be easily reached via relatively good hiking trails and is located on a side path of the main hiking trail that leads over the Galina ridge.

If you are in a good physical condition, you can go on one day from Gurtis to the Gurtisspitze ( 1778  m above sea level ), the zäwasheilspitze (Wisle) ( 1778  m above sea level ), Spitztälispitz, the Goppaschrofen and the Hohe Köpfe as well as the Sattelalpe. can be reached (the tour over the Hohe Köpfe is only recommended for experienced, sure-footed hikers because of the rocky, demanding path, partly secured with wire ropes).

The closest hiking base is the Sattelalpe (only open in summer). Other surrounding Alps are also only cultivated in summer. The Goppaschrofen itself requires surefootedness and a head for heights as well as very good shoes.

Between Bazora-Alpe and Gurtisspitz, the first variant of the hiking trail to Goppaschrofen branches off towards the south (the first part, then increasingly towards the west). This path leads past the Spitztäle hunting lodge ( 1545  m above sea level ), below the Spitztälispitze.

At the “Spitzwiesle” ( 1720  m above sea level ), another variant of the hiking trail branches off to the Goppaschrofen from the main hiking trail westwards (walking time from here approx. 1 ½ to 2 hours). A direct descent route to the Sattelalpe branches off to the south-east, immediately before the short ascent to the Spitztälespitz.

Summit cross

In the summer of 1968, members of the mountain rescue service of the Frastanz Alpine Club group erected the first mountain cross on Goppaschrofen. This in memory of the mountain comrades, especially Otto Märk, who had an accident at the age of 18 on May 28, 1944 on Goppaschrofen. The festive inauguration takes place as part of a field fair. In 1985 the summit cross had to be renewed. The inauguration of the new cross will take place on September 22, 1985. In 2009 the summit cross was damaged by a storm and in 2011 it was replaced.
