A mountain with two peaks in the Rätikon , part of the so-called Galina Group , which is located in the municipality of Frastanz and Nenzing , is called Hohe Köpfe ( 2040  m above sea level and 2066  m above sea level ) . On the smaller summit (north summit) there is a simple summit cross. The height of the smaller summit is different with 2040, 2045 or 2048 m above sea level. specified.

location

The high heads are striking elevations of the Galina Group in the Rätikon. The foothills of the Galina group stretch to the market town of Frastanz (one of the last elevations is the Stutzberg ).

Both peaks of the Hohe Köpfe are striking, distinctive peaks. The vegetation below the summit consists of dense grass and some shrubs and fir trees etc. The summit is largely free of vegetation and offers an excellent all-round view.

The European protected area Spirkenwälder Saminatal is located on the western side of the Hohe Köpfe (and partly of the ridge Galina group ) .

Adjacent peaks and notches or Alps

Seen in a northerly direction, about 1100 m as the crow flies, are the Spitztälispitz (about 1730  m above sea level ), somewhat off the ridge, about 1250 m as the crow flies, the Goppaschrofen ( 1781  m above sea level ). Around 1700 m away on the ridge is the so-called Gäwasheilspitz ( Wisle ) (around 1778  m above sea level ) and then (170 m as the crow flies) the Gurtisspitze ( 1778  m above sea level ).

To the south is the Mattajoch about 850 m as the crow flies and the Galinakopf ( 2198  m above sea level ) 1650 m as the crow flies . The Galina head also gives this ridge (foothills) of the Rätikon, on which the high heads are located, the name ( Galina group ).

The Sattelalpe ( 1383  m above sea level ) is about 1100 m as the crow flies.

hike

Due to the exposed nature of the last section of the hiking trail (rocky, demanding path, partly secured with wire ropes), the Hohe Köpfe are only recommended for experienced, sure-footed hikers. The closest hiking base is the Sattelalpe (only open in summer). Other surrounding Alps are also only cultivated in summer.

Time expenditure (examples)
  • Hohe Köpf - Galinaalpe - Sattelalpe: Walking time: around 1.5 hours.
  • Gurtis over the Bazora-Alpe to the Gurtisspitze, zäwasheilspitz ( Wisle ), Spitzwiesle, Spitztälespitz, Hohe Köpfe, Galinaalp, Sattelalp, Gurtis: walking time: about 8 to 12 hours (Gurtisspitze and zäwasheilspitz can also be bypassed to save time).
