Gottfried Albrecht (diplomat)
Gottfried Albrecht (born December 23, 1932 in Langenbielau ; † December 12, 2012 ) was a German diplomat .
Life
Albrecht studied economics, sociology and economic history in Munich, Kiel and Nottingham. In 1964 he joined the foreign service . After working at the embassies in Moscow (1969–1973), Colombo (1973–1976) and Warsaw (1980–1984; head of the economic service), from 1984 to 1991 he was head of an economic department in the Foreign Office. Albrecht was the German ambassador to Lithuania from 1991 to 1992 and the German ambassador to Belarus from 1992 to 1997 . He was married to Renate Zwicknagl, the youngest daughter of the Bavarian entrepreneur and politician Max Zwicknagl .
