Gotthilf Daniel Schumann

Gotthilf Daniel Schumann (born June 17, 1788 in Esslingen am Neckar , † October 29, 1865 ibid) was a German pharmacist .

Life

Schumann completed his apprenticeship in a Württemberg pharmacy in Blaubeuren . After that he worked here as an assistant for a year. He then worked as an assistant in Calw , Biberach an der Riss and Tübingen . Until 1813 he studied pharmacy at the University of Tübingen . Then he worked as an assistant in Ludwigsburg and completed two years of military service. Schumann became a partner in the chemical factory and materials trading company "Bonz & Klaiber" in Böblingen .

After buying a pharmacy in Möhringen and a branch pharmacy in Waldenbuch , he completed his pharmacist exam in Stuttgart in 1823 . In addition, in 1824 he became a teacher at what would later become the agricultural college in Hohenheim . Thereupon he moved his pharmacy to Plieningen in 1829 . He gave it up in 1843 to move to Esslingen for his retirement. In 1840 Schumann was appointed professor in Hohenheim. His publications covered the field of applied chemistry. He also published a work on catechu , its characteristics and falsifications.
