Gottlieb Meier (born June 14, 1878 in Weinfelden ; † November 6, 1957 , reformed , resident in Neerach ) was a Swiss politician (SP) .

biography

Gottlieb Meier was born on June 14, 1878 in Weinfelden as the son of the tailor Gottlieb Meier Senior. After receiving basic vocational training from his father , he trained as a tailor in Munich . In the years 1899 to 1902 he went on the roll . Subsequently he worked for his father from 1902 to 1905 and as a cutter in the Reber company from 1905 to 1927. In 1907 he married Anna Lydia nee Brütsch. Gottlieb Meier died on November 6, 1957 at the age of 79 in Weinfelden.

The Grütlian Gottlieb Meier was a co-founder of the SP Thurgau in 1907, which he later also chaired. In 1918 he was a strike leader in Weinfelden. Meier was then a member of the municipal council from 1922 to 1946 and of the large municipal council of Weinfelden from 1946 to 1949, which he chaired between 1947 and 1948. To this end, he was represented in the Thurgau Grand Council from 1926 to 1950 , which he chaired between 1935 and 1936 as President. He also served as a district judge between 1941 and 1953. In addition, he sat on the National Council from 1941 to 1943 .

He was also a co-founder and board member of the Volkshausgenossenschaft for 50 years . Meier presided over the consumer cooperative between 1914 and 1940 . From 1928 to 1945 he managed the sickness and death fund . He was also president of the Weinfelden Nursing Association for many years, head of school and, between 1908 and 1940, head of church.
