Grégoire Delacourt (born July 26, 1960 in Valenciennes , France ) is a French publicist , writer , film director and screenwriter .

Life

Grégoire Delacourt attended the La Providence Jesuit school in Amiens . After completing his bachelor's degree in Lille , he studied law in Grenoble . He works in the advertising industry and founded an advertising agency with his wife Dana Philp in 2004. He has worked for well-known brands such as Taittinger and Unilever , among others .

Delacourt was already writing poetry at the age of 18 and published his first pieces in Le Monde in 1978 . During his time in his advertising agency, he wrote and directed a feature film with Préférence , which was released on June 17, 1998 in French cinemas.

Delacourt made his debut as a writer with L'Écrivain de la famille in 2011. The novel sold over 20,000 copies and Delacourt was awarded several literary prizes, including the Prix ​​Marcel Pagnol and the Prix ​​Rive Gauche à Paris .

His second novel, La Liste de mes envies , was published in 2012 and tells the story of a married mother who, after a severe blow of fate, suddenly wins over 18 million euros in the lottery and hesitates to risk the happiness she has just won. In the same year the novel appeared under the title All my wishes in a translation by Claudia Steinitz by Verlag Hoffmann und Campe . The novel has sold over 400,000 copies in France alone. Delacourt's third novel La première chose qu'on regarde was published in 2013. It is the story of a love affair between a mechanic and a young woman in a French village. Both look confusingly similar in the story to actors Ryan Gosling and Scarlett Johansson . When he came back to France on June 5, 2013 from a reading tour for Alle mein Wünsche from Germany, he learned that Johansson had filed a lawsuit against his publisher JC Lattès for "violation and fraudulent use of your personal rights" .
