The grave of Puiemre ( English Theban Tomb 39 = Theban grave no. 39 ) is located in the necropolis of El-Chocha in Thebes- West. Puiemre had during the reigns of Hatshepsut and Thutmose III. holds the office of second priest of Amun . The tomb was completely excavated by an American expedition at the beginning of the twentieth century. The wall decorations have been drawn and published by Norman de Garis Davies . In the meantime, the tomb is being re-examined archaeologically , as it must have been an important tomb.

To the person of the Puiemre

Puiemre was the priest of Amun . His parents were called Puia and Neferiah. His wives were Taneferet and Senseneb. All members of the family held high titles and were employed in important offices of the king.

Grave complex

The tomb has a courtyard with four pillars. On the grave facade there were various steles with biographical texts on Puiemre. There are two entrances to a transverse hall and three chapels behind it. All these parts of the tomb are decorated with reliefs .

Wall reliefs and representations

In the tomb of Puiemre, a certain type of Muu dancer is depicted in a tomb for the last time . The manufacture of jewelry is shown in detail. The naming Nedjem for a cat is noticeable , since otherwise no names were given for cats. In addition, the manufacturing process for papyri is only described in the tomb of Puiemre .

In the grave of Puiemre located in the central chapel, hall of statues shrine , pictures of the rites of the Theban Talfestes . In the hall, the text is recorded on the west wall, which was spoken to the tomb with musical accompaniment by a harper :

“Your Ka , may you please your heart, you, this great one, who exults over beautiful things. Nice day for this great one who came praised before the Lords, the second priest of Amun Puiemre, the Blessed. Your tables are cluttered with money transfers. May you delight your heart for millions of years. Your day in shouts, your months anointed, your years for the length of eternity. "

Transfiguration to the valley feast

In the middle shrine, sacrificial prayers can be read on the north and south walls in connection with the transfigurations for the feast :

“Enjoy all things. A sacrificial prayer of the great Ninth of Heliopolis , Osiris , the Little Ninth, the Upper and Lower Egyptian Chapel. A pure divine sacrifice for Osiris (from Puiemre, the justified ). Puiemre, your ba is transformed on the body of the groove . You shall be in your house of millions near your God. The transfigurations (for you) are read out: Re , transfigured in heaven; Give mightily on earth; Hapi as Nile , you enjoy what is in it; Osiris, that your place may be with him forever; it gave Horus your ka that it is high and you will never be kept from it; Anubis , that you receive what is from you. You reap the price in the ship of the millions, you are a god and have no enemy. "

Visit to the Hathor harem ladies

On the south wall of the shrine three singers with necklaces and fronds can be seen in front of Puiemre and his wife, who hand over the jewelry and fronds to the Hathor :

“Lend a hand on the splendid necklaces and fronds of the Hathor on the part of the tombs. Take the fronds of the Lady of Heaven. Oh gold, mistress of drunkenness, you are happy with one (Puiemre) who was righteous on earth. May the non-setting stars open the ways in heaven for you and unlock the gates of the Duat . May you emerge by appearing as God, by having emerged in the Duat. "

On the east wall of the shrine three singers can be seen reciting their song :

“Rejoice over Amun. The doors of Heaven and Qebehu are open . May the tomb lord be refreshed that day. May the praises be called to him from the sacrificial barge. Your Lord Amun praised you in your house of the living. All western gods exult out of love for you. You have consecrated a divine offering to Amun, Re-Harachte , Atum , to the eye of Re , to his hand and his serpent, to Osiris, Hathor, Anubis as lord of the land Ta-djeser and all the other gods of the Duat. The arms of the light valley are open to you. "
