Grace Gealey (born July 26, 1984 in Butler , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress, best known for her role as Anika Calhoun in the television series Empire .

Life

Gealey was born in Butler, Pennsylvania, but grew up in the Cayman Islands from an early age . After returning to the United States, Gealey received her bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa . She then moved to the University of California, Irvine , where she received her Masters Degree in Acting. After this final Gealey moved to New York to the Off-Broadway play. In 2013 she starred in the Chicago productions of The Misanthrope and Tartuffe .

2014, it was for the role of Anika Calhoun In the Fox - TV series Empire alongside co-stars such as Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson cast.

In 2015 she starred in the music video You Changed Me by Jamie Foxx and Chris Brown .
