Tengling county

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The county of Tengling with the main town Tengling (today part of Taching am See in the district of Traunstein ) was created in the middle of the 11th century when the Sieghardinger's property was divided

The Counts of Tengling were:

  • Friedrich I. von Pongau, † 1071, Count von Tengling 1048, Count im Salzburggau , son of Count Sieghard / Sizo VII. (X Menfö 1044) and Bilihild von Andechs, grandson of Count Engelbert III. in Chiemgau († 1020)
    • Sieghard IX., † 1104, son of Friedrich I, Count von Tengling probably 1074 - descendants: the Counts of Schala and Burghausen (until 1194)
    • Friedrich II., † probably 1120, son of Friedrich I, Count von Tengling 1108 - descendants: the Counts of Peilstein (until around 1207) and Kleeberg (until 1218)

The County of Tengling is known because Count Sieghard IX. with Ida, the only sister of the later Duke (1106), King (1125) and Emperor (1133) Lothar III. from the family of Supplinburger was married.

The ancestral seat, Tengling Castle , was abandoned by their heirs, the Counts of Lebenau , around 1130 after the Tenglingen Counts died out and fell into disrepair. In 1146 the fortress was converted into the Maria Burg church.
