Elfriede Florin

Elfriede Florin (born March 26, 1912 in Düsseldorf , † March 7, 2006 in Berlin ) was a German actress .

Life

Elfriede Goecke completed an acting training from 1929 to 1931 at the theater school of Louise Dumont in Düsseldorf. Since 1930 she was a member of the KPD . She made her stage debut in Trier as early as 1930. During the time of National Socialism, from 1942 onwards she worked for the main cultural office of the Nazi propaganda leadership. She had engagements in Mainz, Breslau and Berlin, where she was part of the theater of friendship ensemble from 1950 to 1967 and then for many years to the Volksbühne ensemble.

In 1954 Elfriede Florin made her feature film debut alongside Eduard von Winterstein and Erika Dunkelmann in the crime thriller Hazardous Freight . In the following years she played under the direction of Kurt Maetzig in Schlösser und Katen and under the direction of Gérard Philipe and Joris Ivens in the socially critical historical comedy The Adventures of Till Ulenspiegel . She stood in front of the camera again for an international production: In Jean-Paul Le Chanois ' adaptation of Victor Hugo's drama Les Misérables , she acted as Bourvil's wife , alongside well-known actors such as Bernard Blier and Jean Gabin . In addition, she was involved in numerous television productions ( Die Heinitzer , Weg über Land ) and films ( Zwei Mütter , Frau Holle ).

From 1957 to 1963 she was a member of the city council of East Berlin .

The daughter Walfriede Schmitt , who also works as an actress, comes from the marriage with the dramaturge Walter Schmitt .
