Grathem is a village in the municipality of Leudal in the Dutch province of Limburg and is 10 kilometers west of Roermond . She is a parish and former municipality with about 1,690 inhabitants in the municipality of Leudal (as at 1st January 2018).
history
For centuries Grathem belonged to the Land of Thorn , which also included the towns of Thorn , Ittervoort , Beersel , Haler , Baexem , Oler , Ell and Stramproy . It was not until 1818 that the districts of Kelpen and Oler were assigned to the municipality of Grathem.
Grathem was liberated by the Allies on November 17, 1944 .
The next regional reform in 1991 brought Grathem together with the municipalities and Baexem to the municipality of Heythuysen to form an administrative unit. In 2007 the municipality of Heythuysen was incorporated into the municipality of Leudal .
