Graziella Hlawaty

Graziella Hlawaty (born February 2, 1929 in Vienna ; † December 20, 2012 there ) was an Austrian writer.

Life

After her parents divorced, Graziella Hlawaty lived with her grandmother and great-grandmother in Trieste and from 1936 with a great aunt in Tulln , where she attended elementary school. From 1939 she attended a secondary school in Vienna with her mother and graduated in 1948. She worked in a publishing bookstore and also studied theater studies at the University of Vienna . In 1954 she broke off her studies and worked in Sweden as a dishwasher, taxi driver and restaurant cashier. In 1957 she rented a hut on an island in the outer Stockholm archipelago . Hlawaty was buried at the Südwestfriedhof (group 31, row 9, number 18) in Vienna.
