Greatest Hits is the first compilation album by the British pop group Spice Girls and the first album the band released after a seven-year break. The comeback was accompanied by a world tour. The album was released worldwide in November 2007. The only exceptions were the USA, where a separate publication was planned.

background

Album information

The album was announced by the band during a press conference at London's O2 on June 28, 2007. The group announced their reunion seven years after their last studio album. The band again consists of the five founding members, including Geri Halliwell , who left the group in 1998.

The plan of a comeback and the release of a greatest hits album had long been discussed in the media, but was first officially confirmed by Melanie Brown in June 2005. Right before a planned reunion due to Live 8 (which was never realized) she said, “We'll be back because we all want it. I know everyone is for it. There will be a greatest hits album and we have tons of new songs that no one has heard before. "

New material

The album was released with two new songs, Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) and Voodoo , the first of which was released as a single in November 2007. The album was released in various formats. On the one hand as a regular CD, as a special edition with a bonus DVD that contains all the videos produced, and as a limited box, which in addition to CD and DVD also contained a karaoke DVD and a remix CD.

CD cover

The cover of the greatest hit features the logo designed by jewelry designer David Morris and pays homage to the debut album Spice . Based on the cover of the debut album, Morris designed the word “SPICE” from jewels with a total value of 1.45 million euros. Each letter symbolized a member of the band. The amber “S” stands for “Posh Spice” Victoria Beckham , the ruby “P” symbolizes “Baby Spice” Emma Bunton , the diamond “I” represents “Sporty Spice” Melanie C , the sapphire “C” belongs to "Ginger Spice" Geri Halliwell and the "E", which consists of a green emerald, symbolizes "Scary Spice" Melanie Brown .
