Richard Stannard (born April 19, 1974 in Hexham ) is a British triathlete . He is a three-time aquathlon world champion (2003–2011) and a four-time biathle world champion (2005–2012).

Career

Richard Stannard started triathlon in the late 1990s and became national triathlon champion in 2001.

In December 2003 he became aquathlon world champion.

Stannard is known in the triathlon as a very fast swimmer, he is nicknamed "The Fish" and holds several national swimming records.

In 2005 he was also the Biathle world champion (1.5 km run, 200 m swim and 1.5 km run) in Monaco and he was able to repeat this success three times.

He also works as a trainer and coach and in 2008 he was the supervisor of the Irish triathlon team at the Beijing Summer Olympics. In 2011 he became national champion in cross triathlon.
In November 2012 he became biathle world champion for the fourth time in Dubai.
