Beno Lapajne (born June 10, 1973 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian handball player . His body length is 2.01 m.
Lapajne, who last played for the Slovenian club Celje Pivovarna Laško and played for the Slovenian national team, is a handball goalkeeper .
Beno Lapajne started playing handball in his hometown at RK Inles Ribnica. He was quickly discovered and signed by the Slovenian series champion Celje Pivovarna Laško. He made his debut for Celje in the 1991/92 season in the first division and won the championship and cup in 1992 and 1993. In 1993 he then switched to competitor RK Gorenje Velenje in order to gain more match practice. After a year he returned to Celje but then moved back to Velenje in the 1995 season. In the 1996 season he returned to Celje and immediately won the 1997, 1998 and 1999 championship and cup there. In the 1999 season he moved to RK Prule 67 Ljubljana. There he reached the semi-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2000 and won the championship and cup again in 2002. When his club got into financial difficulties in 2003, Lapajne went to France to US Ivry HB , where he achieved 3rd place with his team. In the 2004 season he moved to the RK Gold Club Kozina in his home country, where he won the national cup. In the 2005 season he moved to the Croatian record champions RK Zagreb . There he won several national championships and cups, but in 2006 he was hired by the Spanish first division club BM Aragón . With the men from Saragossa he reached the final of the EHF Cup in 2007 , but was defeated by the German SC Magdeburg Gladiators . In 2008 he returned to Celje and ended his career in 2010 with another championship and cup title.
Beno Lapajne has 212 caps for the Slovenian national team. With Slovenia he reached the final of the 2004 European Handball Championship in his own country, but lost to the German team there .
