The Green River is the second largest tributary of the Deerfield River in the US states of Vermont and Massachusetts .

The Green River rises on Hogback Mountain in the Green Mountains in the Town of Marlboro in southern Vermont. From there it flows in a southeast direction through the towns of Halifax and Guilford . The river then turns south and crosses the Massachusetts border. There it flows west past Greenfield and finally flows into the Deerfield River on the left, about 3 km before its confluence with the Connecticut River . West of the Green River is the East Branch North River , also a tributary of the Deerfield River. The Green River has a length of 53 km and drains an area of ​​228 km².
