history

founding

After the Second World War , secondary schools were established in the neighboring cities, while students from Neunburg had to commute in front of the forest. On June 26, 1962, the decision for the establishment of a "state secondary school for boys and girls" in the city of Neunburg was issued. Thereupon the district undertook to take over the costs for the school building, while the city should provide a building plot free of charge and waive development costs.

Construction (1962–1964)

Lessons at the school started just 10 weeks after the founding decision was made on September 4, 1962, initially with just under 100 students and three full-time and six part-time teachers with elective subject groups I and II. The students were in the vocational school in the first year, later in Town hall, housed in the girls' school and in the Kolpingheim.

Relocation and expansion (1964–1973)

In 1964, under the leadership of the headmistress Theresia Guggenmoos, the pupils were able to move into the cubic building on Katzdorfer Strasse, which cost three million DM . In 1965, the previous middle school was renamed "Staatliche Realschule für Knaben und Mädchen Neunburg vW". In 1969 the new school was too small. The school, which was designed for 8 classes, was already occupied with 12 classes at that time. The extension was completed in spring 1972.

Consolidation (1973–1982)

With the extension in 1973, it was also possible to introduce compulsory elective subject group III as a social and musical branch. In 1978 the school got its first computer and the computer science elective was introduced.

Renaming and restructuring (1982–1995)

Various proposals were available to give the school its name. With effect from October 26, 1982 - shortly before the 20th anniversary celebration - the state secondary school in Neunburg vorm Wald was given the school name “Gregor von Scherr School”. In 1982, 523 students were taught in 17 classes for the first time. From 1985 the outdoor sports facilities were completely renovated. In 1991, as one of the first of its kind, the optional subject “ school beekeeping” was established and an apiary was built. For this, the group received the environmental protection award of the city of Neunburg v. W.

Introduction of the six-level secondary school (1995-2005)

In March 1995, the staff council asked the school management to introduce the six-stage Realschule (R6), which was only introduced at the beginning of the 2001/2002 school year.

New beginnings and innovation (2005-2015)

The increasing number of pupils at the Gregor von Scherr School in Neunburg made the introduction of the new branch IIIa with the profile subject French possible. Due to the high number of students, a second vice-principal was installed for the first time from 2005, and in 2007 the elective Czech was offered for the first time . A beach volleyball court, the outdoor classroom and the newly designed break hall were created during this time. Since the 2010/11 school year, the JobCampus - an in-house career choice fair - has been held annually. In addition to the fourth branch (IIIb) with art education as a profile subject, particularly talented pupils can also attend the subject of works as an additional final examination subject from the seventh grade, talented girls are offered bilingual sports lessons, in the fifth and sixth grades the students can choose the wind class , in which focuses on learning to play wind instruments .

All-day school and digital lessons (from 2015)

In the 2015/16 school year, the establishment of an open all-day school (OGS) was successful for the first time , with which the school takes into account the changed requirements for care times at the school. In the same school year, the school was the only secondary school in Bavaria to participate very successfully in the MundARTWertvoll project , an alliance of values set up by Prime Minister Horst Seehofer . In 2016, at the initiative of the teaching staff and the school management, the material expenses officer installed WLAN routers so that a comprehensive, managed WLAN is available in the entire building. This means that the school is playing a pioneering role in digitization in the entire district. However, it is not the laptop or tablet class that is favored, but the concept of “ Bring your own device ” (BYOD). The students' smartphones are thus becoming a frequently used work tool.

In 2019, a team from the school won the German Teacher Award as a cooperation partner .
