Gregor Paul

Gregor Paul (born July 22, 1947 near Magdeburg ) is a German philosopher.

Paul is an adjunct professor of philosophy at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology . His areas of expertise are philosophy of logic , epistemology and theory of science , philosophical aesthetics , philosophy of human rights and comparative philosophy . In the latter area, Paul excelled in particular with his studies of traditional philosophy in the Chinese and Japanese cultures . He was President of the German China Society and is now Honorary President.

biography

From 1966 to 1971 Paul studied philosophy, German and mathematics at the universities of Tübingen , Heidelberg and Mannheim , took the small state examination in mathematics in 1969/70 and the major state examination in philosophy and German language and literature in 1970/71. During eight years as a high school teacher a. a. at the Bismarck-Gymnasium Karlsruhe (1971–79) he received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Mannheim in 1976.

From 1979 to 1985 study trips followed in Southeast Asia. a. as DAAD - Lecturer taught in Japan German. After his habilitation in philosophy at the University of Karlsruhe , Paul u. a. as a private lecturer at the University of Karlsruhe and held visiting or associate professorships at the TH Kunming and the Municipal University of Osaka . Since 1993 Paul has been teaching at the University of Karlsruhe as an adjunct professor.
