The following brooks belong to the grip brooks:

Ristebach

length 5.2 km

The Ristebach is the longest and most water-rich of the Griftbach.

course

The brook rises in the village pond of Siersleben , then flows northeast to Mittelstrasse and then turns southeast. After 80 m an old nursery is flown through, then the place is left. 500 m in the field , the Ristebach fills an old weir. After another 400 m you will reach Augsdorf . The valley of the Ristebach becomes deeper and wider here. At the end of the village it flows into that of the Grift. This is where the poison stream flows into. At the end of the village the brook fills a small fish pond. From here, the Ristebach flows east again, and after a kilometer the dump of the Otto Brosowski shaft is affected. There is no longer any stone standing on top of the watermill that used to exist there . After a further 1.3 km the brook flows into the river Schlenze in a wood near Helmsdorf .

Surname

The name Ristebach comes from Rüster and means Bach among the armor (armor: slang for elm ). In the vernacular it is also called Ritzkebach or Rustebach .

Handles

length 1.5 km

The Grift is the second longest brook of the Griftbach and also named after it. It begins in the village pond of Hübitz and then runs 200 m to the west through the village sewer system until it comes to light at the crossroads of Breite Straße and Griftweg . This is also where the deep valley of the Grift begins, a cut in the landscape where fruit was grown in the past. Today many gardens are abandoned and residents can help themselves freely. After 1.3 km, it touches Augsdorf , where the stream flows into the Rüsterbach in a small swamp near the outdoor pool.

Wickengraben

Wickengraben
location between Thondorf and Siersleben
source Thondorf village pond
51 ° 35 ′ 57 ″  N , 11 ° 31 ′ 51 ″  E

length 700 m

The Wickengraben only exists today as a ditch, the water and the source were withdrawn from the water by the filling in of the Thondorf village pond and the lowering of the groundwater associated with the construction of the key tunnel. Today it only carries water in heavy rain. Starting in Thondorf, it runs east towards Siersleben along a cycle path. In a residential area it ends in the sewer system of Siersleben. The actual stream continued to flow to the village pond, from where it continued to flow as the Rüsterbach .

Apfelborn

Apfelborn
source In the Apfelborn industrial estate
51 ° 35 ′ 35 ″  N , 11 ° 32 ′ 38 ″  E

length 600 m

The creek Apfelborn has dried up due to the construction of the key tunnel and the associated lowering of the groundwater like the Wickengraben today. It originally began at the Apfelborn industrial estate and then flowed off to Hübitz . There it flowed into the village pond and became a handle .

particularities

The villages of Siersleben , Hübitz , Augsdorf and Thondorf on the Griftbach are also known as the Griftdörfer.
