Grigori Konstantinowitsch Sanakojew

Grigori Konstantinovič Sanakoev ( Russian Григорий Константинович Санакоев , scientific transliteration Grigorij Konstantinovič Sanakoev ; born April 17, 1935 in Voronezh ) is a Russian chess master and the 12th world chess champion .

Life

Sanakoyev learned chess at the age of ten and joined the chess section in the Voronezh Pioneer Palace. During his chemistry studies he became acquainted with correspondence chess , which he favored from that time on, as it was easier to combine with his work in a research institute. Sanakoyev qualified for the first time in 1962 for a final of the USSR championship in correspondence chess (1963-1965), in which he was runner-up. In 1965 he won the semifinals of the 6th World Championship, in which he (played 1968–1971) finally on the shared 5th – 7th. Place landed. In 1971 the ICCF awarded him the title of International Master in Correspondence Chess, and it wasn't until 1984 that he achieved the title of Grand Master in Correspondence Chess. At the 2nd European Correspondence Chess Team Championship (1978-1981) he won the gold medal with the USSR selection, when he took part in the 10th World Correspondence Chess Championship (1978-1984) he finished 3rd to 4th with 10/15. Space. In the third attempt at the world championship he succeeded in victory: Sanakojew won the final of the 12th World Championship, held 1985–1991, with 10.5 out of 14. He landed on 3rd place at the "Hans-Werner von Massow Memorial Tournament" (1996– 2002).
