St. Andrew's Church
|
Groß Lobke is a village in the Hildesheim district in Lower Saxony . Since 1974 it has been part of the municipality of Algermissen .
history
The oldest written mention of the place is uncertain due to changing name spellings. The parish of Groß Lobke was dissolved by Lühnde in 1178 . The following year the St. Andrew's Church was consecrated. The church has been Lutheran since the introduction of the Reformation by the Dukes of Braunschweig .
On September 6, 1944, a bomb detonated in the Feldmark near Lühnde. The strong air pressure also destroyed window panes in Groß Lobke.
Groß Lobke is still characterized by agriculture today. A specialty was the intensive flax cultivation and the linen weaving , which provided prosperity until the 19th century. This is reminiscent of the coat of arms and the name of the main street Leineweberstraße .
