The large-flowered scorpionfish ( Dracocephalum grandiflorum ) is a species of scorpionfish ( Dracocephalum ) in the mint family (Lamiaceae).
description
The large-flowered dragon head is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of between 15 and 26 centimeters. The blade of the basal leaves is elongated-elliptical, rarely also ovoid. The middle stem leaves are often sessile or almost sessile. Their stem is shorter than 1.2 centimeters. The crown is 30 to 40 millimeters long.
The flowering period extends from July to August.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.
distribution
The large-flowered scorpionfish occurs in Central Asia with Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan , in North Asia with Russia and Mongolia as well as in East Asian , northern to northwestern China in the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang on grasslands at altitudes of 2200 to 2900 meters.
Systematics
Dracocephalum grandiflorum was in 1753 by Linnaeus in Species Plantarum , Volume 2, page 595 firstdescribed . Synonyms for Dracocephalum grandiflorum L. are Dracocephalum altaicense Laxm. , Dracocephalum turkestanicum Gand. and Ruyschiana grandiflora (L.) House .

The large-flowered dragon head is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens.
