history

Guntareshusun (= "near the houses of Gunter") was first mentioned in a document in 814, when Abbot Richpald bequeathed his hereditary property to the monastery of St. Emmeram . The village of Großgundertshausen consisted of 21 properties in the year of conscription in 1752 and belonged to the Gundertshausen chairman of the Nandlstadt office in the Moosburg district court . The community of Großgundertshausen formed in the 19th century (until 1865 Großquantertshausen ) belonged to the Mainburg district court , later to the district office and district of Mainburg and in 1868 included the districts of Dietrichsdorf (Gütersdorf), Großgundertshausen (Großquanterzhausen), Herbersdorf, Mittersberg, Niederhof, Spitz, Spitzhub and Strasbourg . It was incorporated into the municipality of Volkenschwand on January 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

church

The parish church of the Holy Cross and Our Lady of Sorrows has a late Gothic tower and choir. In 1755 it was baroque, and in 1893 the nave was rebuilt. The high altar from 1759 contains a Vespers from the 16th century. The over three meter tall wooden crucifix from the early 16th century is attributed to the Landshut sculptor Hans Leinberger . The landlord Georg Huber bought this cross around 1815 for seven guilders when he was selling his grain in Landshut. The Xaverius Chapel (with late Gothic spoilage ) is attached to the church .
