Personalities
As the most famous resident of Großwolderfeld, Oll Wilm was born on June 5, 1886 in Großwolderfeld as the son of the rural family Hinrich "Hinerk" and Tjake Brechtezende. He was baptized on July 11, 1886 in Großwolderfeld and went down in local history. He died on July 9, 1966 in Großwolderfeld. Oll Wilm's real name is Wilhelm Brechtezende . He was a hermit who was best known as the so-called "Böskupploper" for his helpfulness. He ran errands for others with his bike to the next town of Leer. In the 30s he was labeled a so-called "eccentric", which made him difficult. Oll Wilm lived in a small cottage with his goats, where Wilhelmstrasse (based on Wilhelm) has its bend today. In honor of Oll Wilm, a monument was erected in front of the town hall square in Ihrhove . On June 5, 2011, a memorial plaque was placed on the spot where his hut was on his 125th birthday.
Buildings
- Collhusen school center.
The school center was built in Collhusen at the beginning of the 1970s, but it was never completed. There the pupils of the community Westoverledingen are taught in the secondary and secondary school from the 5th grade. The facility is also known as the “Red School” because of its color. In 2010 the A wing and in 2011 the B wing of the school was renovated. Since then, both have had a white outer shell with red windows.

- Water pressure regulation station.
So that the water pressure in the water pipes no longer fluctuates so much, a water pressure regulation station was built on Grüner Strasse in the 1970s. This essentially consists of a large water tank that acts as a buffer and a pump that pushes the water out of the tank into the pipe network when required.

shipping
In the early years there was also a small port in Großwolderfeld with peat barges. This port was in front of the Conni Jakobs restaurant, today's youth center in the Westoverledingen community. This port was only used until around 1920 because the connection via the Rajenkanal was very uneconomical. At that time there were plans to build a canal to Flachsmeer, but these were rejected again.
