Groombridge 1830 is a faint star in the constellation Great Bear . He was cataloged by Stephen Groombridge and belongs to the class of red sub-dwarfs . It is about 30 light years away from the sun . Its apparent brightness is just below the limit of visibility for the naked eye.
Groombridge 1830 is a fast runner . Its high self-movement was described by Friedrich Wilhelm Argelander in 1842 .
