The United Glückauf mine was a non-ferrous metal ore mine in the Bensberg ore district in Rösrath in the Forsbach district . The United Glückauf mine field extended in the Königsforst about 500 meters southwest of the former Forsbach train station on the eastern slope of the Giesbach.
history
Originally there were two different coal fields, which for two parallel veins unmixed awarded were. For the pit box Glückauf I had Joh. Wagner to Mülheim am Rhein on August 5, 1877 a presumption filed. On the occasion of the field inspection on August 24, 1877, the building worthiness was determined . Accordingly, on October 15, 1877, the award for lead , blende and copper ore took place . Wilhelm Volbach from Rath near Cologne had already made a request for encouragement for the neighboring Glückauf mine earlier (exact date not known) . The field inspection took place on April 13, 1877. In the final hearing on August 7, 1877, the Glückauf mine was awarded lead and zinc ore. There are no indications for either mine that mining was carried out in the subsequent period .
During the construction of the railway from Bensberg to Forsbach , attention was drawn to the two pits again. The Glückauf I & II trade union was formed as the new owner . On October 28, 1899, both mine fields were consolidated . At the trade meeting on February 28, 1900, it was decided to change the name of the mine to Vereinigte Glückauf .
Operation and facilities
First of all, the deposit was examined through tunnels and in civil engineering after a machine shaft had been sunk . There is only sparse information about the further work. At times the company employed between 16 and 18 miners . Accordingly, it was a small business. On March 20, 1909, the United Glückauf union went into liquidation . The material still in the mine and the mine property were foreclosed on June 18, 1909. Gustav Wolff Jr. became the new owner . from Linden near Bochum . There is no evidence of renewed mining .
