Grund is part of the municipality of Jandelsbrunn in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau in the Heindlschlag district .

The village is one of the so-called seven Künischen villages , which are called Künisch (= royal) because of their 260-year membership in Austria and thus with the Habsburgs. In 1765, Prince-Bishop Leopold Ernst Graf von Firmian bought this area back for 137,787 guilders , but without Rannariedl Castle , which exercised the manorial rule over these localities.
