Gudrun Inboden

Gudrun Inboden (* 1942 ) is a German art historian and museum curator .

Life

Gudrun Inboden studied art history , archeology and English at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and at the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1975, she was in Heidelberg on the subject - "Mallarmé and Gauguin Absolute art as utopia" doctorate . From 1975 to 1977 she worked as a trainee at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart , after which she worked as a research assistant at the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg. The director of the Staatsgalerie at the time, Peter Beye , brought her back to Stuttgart and entrusted her with setting up and looking after the department for contemporary art. From 1993 she was head of department and from December 2003 deputy director and chief curator for contemporary art. In 2007 she was adopted into retirement.

In 1997 and 1999 Inboden was commissioner (curator) of the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale . In 1997 she showed works by Gerhard Merz and Katharina Sieverding , in 1999 she had Rosemarie Trockel design the pavilion
