Karin von Maur

Karin von Maur (* 1938 ) is a German art historian and professor.

Live and act

Maur received his doctorate in 1966 in Tübingen with a paper on Edmond and Jules de Goncourt . She was the deputy director of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and is considered a connoisseur of 20th century Southwest German art. She is an expert for Oskar Schlemmer , was the head of the Oskar Schlemmer Archive and in 1979 created Schlemmer's catalog of works. Under Maur as curator , the Staatsgalerie had a good reputation in the field of classical modernism . In Stuttgart she organized exhibitions on Schlemmer, Yves Tanguy, Max Ernst , Max Beckmann , Juan Gris , Pablo Picasso , Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and others.
