Guidiguir is a rural municipality in the department Gouré in Niger .

geography

Guidiguir is located in the Sahel region . The neighboring communities are Gouré in the northeast, Bouné in the southeast, Gouchi in the southwest, Guidimouni in the west and Damagaram Takaya in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 78 administrative villages, 36 traditional villages, 17 hamlets and four camps. The main town of the rural parish is the administrative village of Guidiguir.

history

The Guidiguir market was one of the small markets in the region that was authorized by the French administration at the beginning of the 20th century .

The rural community of Guidiguir emerged in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from parts of the cantons of Bouné and Gouré.

population

At the 2001 census, Guidiguir had 32,710 inhabitants. For 2010, 44,412 inhabitants were calculated. Members of the mainly arable Kanuri subgroup Manga and the Kanuri subgroup Dagra, which specializes in agropastoralism , live in Guidiguir .

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced. National Road 1 runs through Guidiguir . At the Guidiguir market, baking soda, dates and cattle are traded, which are sold as far as Zinder and Nigeria . The market day is Wednesday.
