Appignano (in the local dialect: Pignà , fully: Appignano di Macerata ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4121 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Macerata in the Marche region . The municipality is located about 11 kilometers northwest of Macerata on the Monocchia and borders directly on the province of Ancona .
