Caldarola is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1714 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Macerata in the Marche . The parish is about 19 kilometers west-southwest of Macerata . The Chienti is in the north. Caldarola is part of the Comunità montana dei Monti Azzurri .
history
Caldarola emerged as a rural village sometime before the 9th – 10th centuries. Century. In 1434 independence was enshrined in a bull by Pope Eugene IV (1434). The heyday of the then up-and-coming town peaked in the 16th century.
During the intensive urban redevelopment under Pope Sixtus V (1585–1590), Giovanni Evangelista Pallotta made a particular contribution to the redesign of Caldarola with the development of an extensive development plan. A large piazza was created in the medieval center, a cardinal palace was built, and the collegiate church of San Martino and the pilgrimage church of Our Lady of the Mountain were designed.
Townscape
The townscape is characterized by the Castello Pallotta (originally 9th century, rebuilt in the 16th century) and the Pallotta Palace (16th century).
