Guillaume Séguron

Guillaume Séguron (born February 28, 1971 in Nîmes ) is a French bassist and composer of creative jazz as well as a sculptor . His musical role models include Henry Grimes , Gary Peacock , Richard Davis and Charlie Haden with his Liberation Music Orchestra .

Life

Séguron studied art history and archeology . He also studied double bass at the conservatory in his native city and in Paris with Bernard Cazauran and Jean-François Jenny-Clark . In the 2000s he worked with Anthony Ortega ( Bonjour , 2001), Philippe Deschepper / Denis Fournier ( Tota , 2003) as well as with Patrick Favre ( Intense ), Régis Huby ( Furrow ) and Catherine Delaunay ( Sois patient car le loup ). In 2003 he recorded the Police tribute Witches with his quartet . In 2008 he wrote SoMoS [1936 + 1939] - 1975 , a tribute to the Republicans in the Spanish Civil War. In the same year the album Nouvelles réponses des archives was created , which he recorded in a duo with the speaker Jo Villamosa, who read from the war diary of Séguron's grandfather. The album received a lot of critical acclaim in France. He also performed in Germany with his trio. In 2018 he worked with Joe McPhee .
