Lionel Garcin

Lionel Garcin (* 1972 in Avignon ) is a French jazz and improvisation musician ( saxophone , also trumpet).

Career

Garcin, who initially studied physics, then switched to the saxophone, which he studied at the conservatory in his hometown. With the group Hiatus he was the winner of the first Tremplin Jazz Avigon . The first recordings were made in 1999 in the sextet of Jean-Pierre Julian. Since 2000 he has been a member of Denis Fournier's combos and is also involved in several albums with him. He was also a member of New Lousadzak . He has worked with Barre Phillips in various formations for 15 years , including in the trio with Émilie Lesbros and in the large formation EMIR . In 2007 he released a solo album.

He currently also plays in the duos NOP with Frantz Loriot and Le Concert Perché with Laurent Charles, as well as in Two Level Lunch with Emmanuel Cremer, Dominic Lash and Alex Ward . He has also performed with Claude Tchamitchian , Louis Sclavis , Christine Wodrascka , Raymond Boni , Alain Joule , Isabelle Duthoit , Guillaume Orti , Remi Charmasson and Frank Lowe and has also appeared on albums by Michel Lambert and Intolerable Heat .
