Michel Joseph Jules Lambert (born October 24, 1959 in Quebec ) is a Canadian composer and drummer of the Modern Creative .

Live and act

Lambert, who comes from a family of musicians, studied first at the Conservatoire de Musique de Quebec, then at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. From 1983 he traveled to Los Angeles , New York , Europe and Asia for three years ; he has performed at the Vienna Jazz Festival, Jak Jazz in Jakarta , Pori Jazz and the Europa Jazz Festival du Mans. It came to cooperation with u. a. Marcus Belgrave , Pat LaBarbera , Julian Priester , Mike Nock , Peter Appleyard , Ted Curson , Charlie Haden , John Zorn , John Tchicai , David Torn and Mick Karn .

As a composer, he wrote his Journal des Episodes in 1998 - 366 Episodes pour orchester symphonique , which was premiered in 1992 by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Since 1990 he has been part of François Carrier's trio , with whom he recorded numerous albums. There were also recordings with Uri Caine and with Paul Bley / Gary Peacock . Lambert also played with Don Thompson , Sonny Greenwich , Herbie Spanier , Ed Bickert , Neil Swainson and Reg Schwager .

He also went on a European tour with his wife, singer Jeannette Lambert , and Dave Young in the Out Twice project ; as a result, it came to collaboration with Barre Phillips . In 2004 he completed his cycle Double Duets , a series of five percussion and art duets with Daniel Humair , Han Bennink , Bob Moses , Sven-Åke Johansson and John Heward . On his album Le Passant (2005) he worked with both an orchestra and improvisers such as Dominic Duval , Ellery Eskelin and Malcolm Goldstein . In the last few years several albums with François Carrier and Alexei Lapin have been created.
