Coaching career
Following his active career, Leidborg took over the position of head coach at the Austrian club EHC Lustenau from 1987 to 1990 . He then spent a season at Schwenninger ERC in the ice hockey Bundesliga . From 1992 to 1995 the Swede was in charge of the Augsburg Panthers , with whom he was promoted to the newly founded German Ice Hockey League in 1994 as a second division champion . In this he worked in the 1995/96 season as an assistant coach at his former club from Schwenningen. For the 1998/99 season he briefly took over the position of head coach in Augsburg again. In the following years he was able to fully establish himself in the DEL as the person in charge behind the gang and worked for Revierlöwen Oberhausen , Berlin Capitals , Kassel Huskies and Hannover Scorpions . During his time in Oberhausen, he was also named DEL trainer of the year in 2000.
From 2005 to 2008 Leidborg coached the ETC Crimmitschau , with which he was promoted to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season . When he had to file for bankruptcy at the end of the season , he left it and returned to the 2nd Bundesliga, where he was responsible for the sporting success at REV Bremerhaven between 2009 and 2012 . After the end of his tenure in Bremerhaven, he went back to Sweden and was active as a coach in the youth department of BIK Karlskoga in the 2012/13 season .
