Gunter Lange (General)

Gunter Lange (born January 19, 1939 in Zerbst ) is a German officer ( retired major general ), pilot and defense attaché .

Life

Promotions

Lange joined the Bundeswehr in Bückeburg in 1958 . From 1959 to 1962 he received officer and pilot training in Neubiberg, Uetersen and Lackland / Texas and in 1962/63 ( T-33 , F-86 ) in Fürstenfeldbruck and Oldenburg. From 1963 to 1965 he was a pilot in Jagdgeschwader 73 in Sobernheim. Afterwards he was a weapons operations officer and pilot staff / flying group in Jagdgeschwader 42 in Sobernheim and pilot staff and operations officer in the light combat wing 42 in Sobernheim.

In 1971 he became a squadron captain in the Light Combat Squadron 44 in Leipheim. From 1973 to 1975 he was pilot and staff officer tactics at the officers' school of the Air Force (OSLw) in Neubiberg . In 1975 he became a fighter bomber pilot officer and deputy commander of the flying group in Jagdgeschwader 35 in Sobernheim, where he received retraining on the F-4 Phantom . 1977/78 he was fighter pilot staff officer and commander of the flying group in Jagdgeschwader 74 "Mölders" in Neuburg an der Donau. In 1978 he became a consultant in the Air Force Command (Fü L III) in Bonn. From 1981 to 1983 he was deputy commodore and from 1983 to 1985 commodore of Jagdgeschwader 74. In 1986 he became an air force attaché at the German Embassy in Washington, DC. In 1989 he became chief of staff and deputy commander of the 2nd Air Force Division in Birkenfeld. In 1990 he was transferred to the East German Army Command in Straussberg.

In 1991/92 he was deputy commander of the 5th Air Force Division in Straßberg. He was also retrained on MiG-29 Fulcrum . In 1993 he received training as an attaché and then from 1993 to 1996 he was a defense attaché at the German Embassy in Moscow . In 1996 he became deputy commanding general of the Air Force Command North in Kalkar. In 1999 retraining on "Phantom" took place. In the same year he retired.

He is married and has two children.
