Gunther Jauss (born September 25, 1936 in Stuttgart ; † January 5, 2016 in Friedrichshafen ) was a German architect .

Life

Gunther Jauss studied architecture at the Stuttgart State Building School and graduated in 1961. Until 1965 he worked in Roland Ostertag's office in Leonberg / Stuttgart. When he was commissioned to convert the port station in Friedrichshafen into the Zeppelin Museum, today's landmark of the city of Friedrichshafen, he worked as a freelance architect in Friedrichshafen, from 1971 in partnership with Hubert Gaupp in the architecture office Jauss, Gaupp & Partner . The office has won numerous competitions; Jauss was a sought-after specialist judge at competitions. He has received numerous awards for his buildings, including the Hugo Häring Prize (1994, 1997), the architecture prize for exemplary buildings in Baden-Württemberg.

Jauss was a member of the BDA Association of German Architects and for many years chairman of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects in the Lake Constance district . His self-drawn Christmas cards had cult status. He was committed to the Evangelical Church and gave lectures on religious topics.
