Gunther von Lepel
Gunther Karl Wilhelm von Lepel (born February 16, 1903 in Hofgeismar , † August 17, 1993 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German film producer .
Life
family
His ancestors belonged to the Mecklenburg branch of the noble family von Lepel , House Grambow. His father was the future Prussian major general Victor von Lepel (1863-1918) and his mother Sophie, née von Baumbach (1868-1945). He had three siblings: Claus (1899–1948), Burkhard (1901–1945) and Dorothea (1905–1984).
Lepel was first married to Dominica Nadja von Radowitz (1911–1997, the marriage was divorced in 1933) since 1929 and was married to Olga-Désirée von Restorff (1906–1995) for the second time since 1940. His son Burkhard (* 1930), who became a farmer, comes from his first marriage.
Gunther von Lepel was chairman of the Lepel Family Association from 1937 to 1969
Education and career
After graduating from high school in 1922, Lepel joined the 4th (Prussian) cavalry regiment of the Reichswehr in Potsdam as an officer candidate a year later .
After studying law at the University of Greifswald , he was a producer, managing director and then owner of ABC-Filmgesellschaft mbH, Berlin, from 1932 to 1939 . This produced eleven films from 1933 to 1939, some of which featured very prominent actors.
During the Second World War , Lepel was captain of the intelligence service .
After the war, he worked in various positions in the public relations department of companies and associations, most recently as press officer at BASF in Frankfurt am Main .
He received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic on ribbon and was Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John .
