Guntram Hecht (born December 9, 1923 in Beuthen / Upper Silesia ; † March 15, 2018 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld ) was a German music teacher, organist and composer .

Career

He completed organ studies with Cantor Rudolph Opitz in Beuthen , Karl Straube in Leipzig and Cantor Walter Schindler in Hanover . From 1949 to 1959 he worked as an organist in Gehrden / Hanover. He was a specialist advisor for church music in the Ronnenberg church district and the initiator of many church music concerts. From 1960 to 1976 he gave numerous organ concerts for Goethe Institutes in Europe and overseas, for example in Barcelona / Spain and Valparaíso / Chile . Since 1976 he has lived in Clausthal-Zellerfeld / Oberharz , where he has performed a large number of organ concerts as a soloist. For years he was the organist of the Paul Gerhardt Church in Lautenthal in the Harz region .

Making music

The focus of Hecht's interpretation was on compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach , Dietrich Buxtehude , Max Reger , as well as Spanish Renaissance and Baroque music (including Antonio de Cabezón , Juan Cabanilles , Francisco Correa de Arauxo ).

  • Choral fantasies for organ
  • Preludes and Fugues for Organ
  • Passacaglia in D minor
  • Works for piano

These compositions are not only intended as support for the organization of the church service or works for organ concerts as a soloist, but also for organ students.

Organ student

The well-known Chilean organist Mauricio Pergelier was one of his best organ students .

Organ restorations

With his knowledge he had made important contributions to the construction of new organs and the restoration of historical instruments. Examples of this would be Barcelona and the restoration of the organ of the German Protestant parish in Valparaíso , Chile, together with the deceased organ builder Detlef Kleuker .
