The steam-powered tractor Gustav was in 1908 by the shipyard of Gebr. Wiemann in Brandenburg an der Havel built. After renovations in 1976 and a complete reconstruction in 2000/2001, it serves as an excursion steamer for the Weißes Flotte Potsdam .

history

The steam tug was commissioned by the Hamburg shipping company Schmeil & Friedrich and commissioned in 1908 as Auguste with a length of 26.50 m, a width of 5.10 m and a draft of 1.10 m. The steam was generated in a cylinder boiler with two flame tubes. The triple expansion machine had a rated power of 250  hp .

The Auguste was bought by the shipowner Gustav Thiele from Lehnin in Brandenburg as the successor to his smaller tug Gustav and renamed Gustav . In 1976 Thiele had the steamer extended amidships in order to be able to accommodate additional coal bunkers between the engine room and boiler room. This doubled the range without additional bunkering and the ship was now 32 meters long and 6 meters wide.

In 1987 Thiele sold the Gustav to the Hans Möritz scrapping company in Berlin-Spandau . Due to the good substance of the hull and its propulsion technology, an extensive restoration was carried out by Hans Möritz and the steamer was launched again in August 1989.

Weisse Flotte Potsdam (2000)

As a replacement for the chartered steamer Sachsenwald , which had been in service on the Havel since 1995 and was returned from Potsdam to Pirna in 2000 , the Weisse Flotte Potsdam von Möritz acquired the Gustav . She was transferred from Spandau to Potsdam on May 16, 2000. When the Sachsenwald started her journey home to Pirna, she formed a push convoy with the Gustav . The Gustav was pushed to the Bolle shipyard on the way to Parey on the Elbe . The rest of the work was carried out here and it has been in use for the Weisse Flotte Potsdam since 2001.
