The passenger ship Sanssouci is a new build of the traditional company Weisse Flotte Potsdam in the Brandenburg state capital Potsdam . The keel laying of the ship took place in the late summer of 2009 in the shipyard Bolle GmbH Derben on the Pareyer connecting canal . The launch took place on December 15, 2009. After testing and transfer, the ship was officially christened Sanssouci in Potsdam .

history

The first ship of the Weisse Flotte Potsdam with the name Sanssouci was built in 1962. This passenger ship was built as part of a large series of eight ships in the Etkar André shipyard in Magdeburg. The historic name Sanssouci was reserved by the management of Weisse Flotte Potsdam GmbH at an early stage for the later planned new building.

The new Sanssouci was christened by actress Gerit Kling on the evening of April 17, 2010 in the presence of Brandenburg's then Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck and Potsdam's then Mayor Jann Jakobs, traditionally with a bottle of champagne.

The ship

The ship is 72 meters long, 9 meters wide and only goes about one meter deep. The Sanssouci is driven by two six-cylinder V-engines from Deutz AG via two Schottel rudder propellers . Two generators, each driven by a Deutz diesel engine, are available for power supply on board. The ship has a jet drive and the most modern navigation aids.

The ship can hold 334 passengers in the air-conditioned saloon and 343 on the open upper deck. A handicapped accessible toilet and a lift make the ship usable for people with reduced mobility. A galley and two counter areas are available for catering to the passengers.
