The Schwielowsee passenger ship is a new ship built by the traditional company Weisse Flotte Potsdam in the Brandenburg state capital Potsdam with a hybrid drive. The artistic painting of the ship was done by the Potsdam company Art-EFX.

history

The ship is christened on April 14, 2019 by former captain Heinz Ahlgrimm

The keel was laid in August 2018 in an assembly hall at the Bolle shipyard . The waterfall of the hull took place on December 4th, 2018. The complete interior work in the shipyard on the Pareyer connecting canal is being carried out exclusively by regionally based companies. After testing and transfer, the ship was officially christened Schwielowsee on April 14, 2019 in Potsdam . The ship was named after the Schwielowsee , a Havelsee. The ship's name is a novelty on the Havel waters.

The ship

The Schwielowsee is 41 meters long and 6.5 meters wide. With these dimensions, it can navigate almost all smaller bodies of water in the region, such as the Griebnitz Canal. The shallow draft of only 1.00 meters enables the planned routes to be adhered to even at low water levels. With a fixed point height of 4.50 meters, the ship can be used without restrictions in the region. The ship is approved for 250 passengers. In the fully air-conditioned interior there is seating for 160 people. There are also 160 seats outside on the upper deck. A galley, a counter area and a service team are available for passenger care, depending on the number of guests and the route area, to provide catering for the passengers. The ship is wheelchair accessible and normally has ground level access. In the specially prepared rear area, reserved parking spaces are provided for at least five wheelchairs. In order to cope with the increasing cycle tourism around the Havel lakes, parking spaces for at least 20 bicycles have been set up in the foredeck area. There are charging connections outside for charging the batteries of e-bikes .

The Schwielowsee is driven by two electric motors with an output of 120 kilowatts each. They draw their power from a lithium-ion battery block. The battery block is charged via a special shore connection during the port berth or night berth . Diesel generators are available for charging the battery pack during a longer journey. They run on the synthetic, paraffinic fuel Shell GTL Fuel Marine . The shipping company wants to contribute to the reduction of the possible local pollution of the environment and to air improvement. An electric bow thruster improves maneuverability during berthing and casting off maneuvers.
