The shipyard was founded in 1861 under the name "Schiffswerft Gebrüder Bolle" on the Plauer Canal , today the Pareyer connecting canal , near Derben for the construction of inland waterway vessels . The location of the shipyard is favorable in terms of traffic, as the Parey lock protects the shipyard from fluctuations in the water level of the nearby Elbe and the shipyard can be reached via the Elbe-Havel Canal and the Elbe.

The construction program mainly consisted of barges and motorized goods ships up to 450 t carrying capacity. Special features were a workshop ship, several push boats and four sea-going Seine , which were built here from 1948 to 1950. Push boats are motorized dinghies, the "fliers", which turn a barge into a self-propelled boat in the absence of tugs .

In 1990 the shipyard was privatized again and returned to the original owners or successors.

After reunification

The shipyard was restructured and modernized by the Bolle family in the following years, and it operates again under the name of "Schiffswerft Bolle". Around 100 ships were built here by 1998. The shipyard now has a wide range of services for the construction, repair, conversion and expansion of inland vessels.

A specialty of the shipyard are excursion boats of the AquaCabrio type , which are equipped with a flexible roof. This allows passengers to enjoy the sun in the open air. When it rains, the roof can be closed quickly and offers good visibility even when it is closed.

These ships are equipped with 180 kW diesel engines to drive the propellers. The box rudder behind the propeller and the bow thruster located in the bow ensure good maneuverability .

Inland Shipping Innovation Award 2019

For the development and construction of the Schwielowsee , the Bolle shipyard received the Inland Shipping Innovation Award 2019. For the seventh time, Managing Director Mario Bolle accepted the award at the Shipping-Technics-Logistics (STL) trade fair in Kalkar.

The Schwielowsee was built for the White Fleet Potsdam and the 41 m long and 6.5 m wide passenger ship can carry up to 250 guests on the lakes and waterways in Berlin and Brandenburg.

It is driven by two electric motors with 120 kW each, which receive the electricity from lithium-ion batteries, which in turn are charged with green electricity during the layover time. Energie & Wasser Potsdam was won as a partner for the power supply. Diesel generators that run on synthetic fuel start on longer tours. It is made from natural gas, with the advantage of lower particulate and NOx emissions.
