KACO GmbH + Co. KG (KACO = K upfer A sbest CO ) is a global manufacturer of sealing elements with headquarters in Kirchardt , of the 2014 by the Chinese Zhongding Group was acquired. The predecessor company Kupfer-Asbest Co. Gustav Bach (born February 4, 1880, † 1929 in Heilbronn ) was born with Emma. Gebhardt (* Waldbach October 20, 1886) married. After attending the building trade school, he worked in Albert Hirth's civil engineering office. In 1912 Gustav Bach took over the special machine factory Emil Bach from his uncle Emil Bach, at the outer Rosenbergstrasse 24 in Heilbronn. In 1914 he founded the company Kupfer-Asbest-Co Gustav Bach together with the engineers Albert Hirth and Gustav Klein. They made seals for engines. In 1915 the company was entered in the commercial register under the name Kupfer-Asbest Co., Gustav Bach .

In the 1930s, the company was one of the most important suppliers to the automotive industry, with cylinder head, flange and ring seals for motor vehicles being manufactured here for the first time.

On December 4, 1944, the main and branch factories were destroyed by air raids and rebuilt, and electrical items (hotplates, alarm systems) and toys were now produced. The production of seals was resumed in 1948, with choppers and inverters being the second mainstay . In 1955 the destroyed factories were completely rebuilt.

In 1966 the new administration building in Heilbronn was completed.

KACO

In 1970 the company was split up: Bach & Co., KACO Elektrowerk , was founded in Heilbronn-Sontheim , and branch plants were opened in Lauffen am Neckar and Kirchardt six years later .

In 1978 the company was renamed KACO GmbH + Co. Heilbronn . In 1983, KACO Dichtungstechnik Ges.mbH was founded with a plant in Sankt Michael im Lungau (Austria).

1991 Inauguration of another plant in Talheim . The branch in Lauffen was closed.

In 1993 KACO became a member of the Brazilian Sábo Group. At the same time, the electrical plant was separated, from which the company KACO Elektrotechnik was created in 1999 , which later traded as KACO Geräteechnik GmbH , moved to Neckarsulm in 2003 and has been called KACO new energy since 2009 .

In 1996, KACO Hungary Kft. With a plant in Enese (Hungary) was founded. Starting in 2007, production started in Lincoln / North Carolina (USA), but under the name Sabó (former parent company) only from 2014 as KACO USA.

A plant was opened in Wuxi (China) in 2008, and a branch was opened in Anhui in 2015 .

On July 1, 2014, the Zhongding Group took over 80% of the shares from the previous owner Sabó, who retains 20% of the shares.

For the 100th anniversary in December 2014, the company announced that a new building in the "Böllinger Höfe" industrial area would replace the Heilbronn and Talheim branches. In February 2016, however, it was decided that all plants at the Kirchardt site would be merged.

All German plants have been united in Kirchardt since autumn 2018. Production takes place in 8 plants worldwide.

Products

Shaft sealing rings , mechanical seals , flat seals , piston and rod seals as well as other sealing elements and hoses for pneumatic and hydraulic purposes, shift pistons for automatic transmissions and double clutch transmissions.
